Welcome to Milkman's Circle for Recovery

We have a lot of recovery information on the sidebar and links thru out the site and will be adding more. We are mainly alcoholics and addicts in recovery, and those seeking to start a new life without the use of alcohol and/or drugs. The links on the left will take you to information pages and the Message Boards.

The message boards will take you to the Circle for Recovery forum message board. There are a multitude of boards to post your thoughts and share in recovery with other people in recovery and those seeking it. We ask that you introduce yourself, and post your clean/sober date so that we can celebrate recovery milestones together.

You will need to register at the Circle forum to access the message boards. You must use a valid email address, as the data base will send you an activation email that you must reply to for activation.

We hope that you will be an active member here, as your thoughts and experience, strength and hope are needed for us all, so that we may have a better chance to stay clean/sober for another 24 hours, one day at a time.

Shortcuts in sobriety? Are there any?

The only shortcuts I've found in recovery, is the willingness and open mindedness to learn from others that have been where I've been and maybe am at this time. When others share about how they dealt with the problems I have/had, it gives me better understanding and solutions that may take me years to acquire otherwise.

We find in life many different ways to achieve many different things. There are many religions, political parties, economic programs, professions and other things in life thru out the world. And....... there are many different ways to achieve sobriety or to get clean. If you asked any person from any of the above, I'm sure they would tell that "their" way is best. In fact.......... the way I look at it........ none of them can be the "best" for everyone. The "best", in my way of thinking, would have to be "what works for YOU"!

I believe that recovery is the same way........ "whatever works for YOU"! In this group, most of us have found out that the 12 step programs work best for us. We try to apply the 12 step program in our lives today to help us stay clean and sober. We try our best to follow the suggestions in the "Big Book" and the "Basic Text" to achieve that. Most of us find that if we DO apply ourselves to the 12 step program.......... we remain clean/sober for today. If we apply the same program tomorrow........ the chances of staying that way will be much easier for us to start "racking" up those days into weeks, then months, and then into years of sobriety or staying clean.

If you look at the sobriety list on these pages and the duration of clean/sober time, you will see that this program has worked for many of us. If you have/had problems staying clean/sober on your own or with other types of recovery, maybe you might think about joining us and seeing if this program will work for you. You've got nothing to lose, BUT.......... maybe you have a lot to gain.

Mike
