Help Support |
"My name is Mike Olson aka "The Milkman". I abused alcohol and drugs for most of my life, and after going to a long-term recovery program in 2000, thereby getting clean and sober, I started creating Recovery Web Sites on the Internet.
I've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great people who have also entered the world of recovery; we all try to live a new life without the use of alcohol and drugs. We offer support to those people who may be having difficulties in their efforts to recover by sharing our Experience, Strength and Hope to them and to ourselves as well. Recovery has taught me to have an "open mind", and not to prejudge people, places or things, which I may not understand immediately. Living this way has opened up new avenues in my life.
On Sunday August 16,2009, I was invited to hear poets read at the Trinity Poetry Series, by one of our members at the Circle for Recovery, Don H. Don read there, and it was a new experience for me which I greatly appreciated. Don's reading was based on addiction, treatment and recovery for which he read a poem for each state beginning with "Outcast," followed by "A Dogged Birth", and ending with “Toxic Antithesis". Don handed out some possible interpretations about some of the poems. These, also, will all be available here.
I also had the pleasure of hearing three others read: Selene Steese, Jeanne Powell and Leonore Wilson, and thought they were all very good. I enjoyed the session and wished I'd had time to stay for the other four readers. Hopefully next time I will.
Being a "Baby Boomer" and growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960's, gave me a little bit of "savvy" about the Poetry community. I frequented places in North Beach where poetry and other types of expression were common. I don't remember all the names of the places, outside of the "Coffee Gallery", and the "City Lights Bookstore", but there were a lot at that time.
The reading to which Don invited me, inspired me to create this site, and I will be posting Don's work, and hopefully your work will join Don’s.
I enjoy bringing people together to learn and enjoy life, as well as to share with others. I will be building a forum for anyone to share their life and/or their creative work with us. For those who are willing, I will post your work on this site.
I'm closing now because today is “day-one” in this site’s creation. Today is August 21, 2009, and I do not know how long it will take to get this site on the web. More than likely I will publish this long before it is one hundred percent because one of my "defects of character" from my "old days" is impatience! But..I will continue to add content as we go, only being slowed down by not getting enough content from ...YOU!
Contribute to this site, and I will know that we are enjoying “The Poets Korner” as well as “The Circle."

Today is September 1st, and the site has been up for a few days. We now have four members, and already the site name has to be changed, due to other types of "Art" forms being contributed. I've renamed it for now Arts/Poetry in Motion, but I'm going to put it to the members we have now for renaming, lol. We'll see what we come up with. That's it for now, but will be adding to this for awhile, as we go.
